Piastri Wins

It was a hard-fought win from Oscar Piastri as the TRS Arden driver held off his main championship rival Jamie Caroline in the closing stages of the race at  Knockhill. The Australian driver could still win the F4 British Championship title , but needed a strong result in the opening race due to Caroline’s poor qualifying.

From pole position there was a  clean start for Piastri as he knew he’d need full points to close the gap to Caroline in the standings. The Carlin driver though had made a strong start and was immediately into third, setting the fastest lap, as the rest of the field battled behind.

Linus Lundqvist who was  another driver who made a strong getaway and was straight onto the back of fourth place Ayrton Simmons, as the top three started to break away.

Caroline  started to  get impatient while stuck behind Alex Quinn, as Simmons and Lundqvist started to close the gap on the battling duo. Lundqvist though lost his place after a failed move, with Quinn also losing places after an audacious move from Caroline who  allowed Simmons through.

There was a  safety car came out due to a crash between Lucas Alecco Roy and Jamie Sharp in the opening sector. This make Piastri’s lead with Caroline right behind on the restart.

Drops of rain,  started to fall on the circuit, Caroline piled the pressure on Piastri, setting the lap record as the rest of the challengers fell away behind him. Piastri though would hold on for his fourth win of the season, with Caroline and Simmons rounding out the podium.

Quinn’s mistake would haunt him for that race as he settled for fourth having held off Logan Sargeant in the closing stages. Behind them, Oliver York took sixth from Hampus Ericsson who held of the recovering Lundqvist in the closing laps.
