Kimi Raikkonen wins the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. The last time we saw Kimi Raikkonen win a race was at the 2013 Australian Grand Prix. This was his 21st win in his career in Formula One. RedBull’s Max Verstappen finished second. Lewis Hamilton comes third.
Meanwhile, championship leader Lewis Hamilton is waiting for his title for this year’s World Championship. As he needs to now only score eight more points ahead of his championship rival Sebastian Vettel. He still has a seventy point lead over his rival.
“Obviously I’m much happier than finishing second. It’s been a great weekend and the car has been pretty good all the time,” – Kimi Raikkonen
Later on from the race, we found out that Esteban Ocon and Kevin Magnussen had been disqualified from the race due to breaching the fuel flow limit which is 100kg/ hour during the opening lap.
Kevin Magnussen tweeted “Unfortunately today we were racing in Formula Fuelsaving rather than Formula 1. And we used 0.1kg (!) too much for the whole race so we got disqualified. Those are the rules so we just have to manage better. Car was great though and the pit stop was amazing. On to the next one!”
