Kimi Raikkonen tops the timesheets in third practice session as he set the track record in Spa with a scorching 1:43.916s. Championship leader Vettel was 2nd fastest and 0.197s adrift of his teammate followed by Hamilton who was 0.001s slower than his title rival.
Max Verstappen buoyed by his fans support was 4th fastest but almost a second slower than the top 3. And surprisingly, the other Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas was slower than Verstappen in 5th. The second RedBull of Ricciardo was 6th fastest just 2/10ths adrift of Verstappen as they seem to have gone back on similar setups after yesterday’s low drag gamble.
Jolyon Palmer was a surprising 7th as he ahead of the rest of the midfield and even his teammate Hulkenberg who was more than half a second slower and finished the session in 11th.
Perez, Sainz and Alonso rounded up the top 10. Vandoorne, the homeboy with his 65 grid place penalty was 14th fastest as Mclaren went back to the previous engine overnight due to technical problems with the Spec 3.6 engine and fitted his car with a new gearbox.
Raikkonen showed with his pace that he is still not lost it. Can he claim another win to add to his tally of 4 wins at Spa?
