This year fans have been given the chance to design Valtteri Bottas’s crash helmet for the 2018 Formula 1 season.
The Mercedes team said the winning design, which will be selected by Bottas personally, will be used for the “majority” of grands prix for the upcoming campaign.
It follows team-mate Lewis Hamilton’s decision to use a fan-designed helmet for the 2017 season after holding a competition that garnered more than 8,000 entries.
Jenson Button also used a fan vote to determine his design for the 2016 season, his final full campaign in F1. We entered but sadly didn’t get the chance.
The winner of the competition will also receive a replica of the helmet signed by Bottas.
Fans have just over 10 days to enter their designs to Mercedes. Further details of how to submit a design entry can be found here.
