British driver Jamie Chadwick’s second win in three races allowed her to extend her lead over Dutch rival Beitske Visser in the all-female W Series in Misano, Italy, on Saturday.

Starting second on the grid, Chadwick who took the lead when going into the first corner from Fabienne Wohlwend who had qualified on pole position for the first time for this series.

Jamie Chadwick, who has been appointed as a development driver for British Formula One team Williams last month, increased her lead in the championship to 68 points, which is 13 points ahead of Visser who finished second. Behind Chadwick, fellow Briton Alice Powell who crashed out of the race and had problems with broken suspension after colliding with Fabienne Wohlwend which ended up with her going briefly airborne ( As seen below).

The incident brought out the safety car but when racing resumed Chadwick comfortably pulled away with Visser and Wohlwend close behind, the trio clearly benefiting from starting on fresh tyres.

Vicky Piria who held onto her fourth place qualifying slot at both the start and the restart, but was overtaken on the penultimate straight by Miki Koyama, who scored her best W Series finish which was in fourth place, very impressive.

The sixth position went to Marta Garcia who was ahead of Tasmin Pepper. Sabre Cook had a very impressive drive from 15th on the grid to finish in eighth place, having battled with Sarah Moore throughout the race before completing a successful overtake on the final lap.

Sarah Moore was ninth, with reserve driver Vivien Keszthelyi who was racing in place of the injured Emma Kimilainen who completed the top 10.
